Twitter’s head of trust and safety Ella Irwin has resigned, she confirmed Reuters, marking the departure of one of Elon Musk’s most important executives at Twitter. Irwin took over from Yoel Roth in November following Roth’s resignation earlier that month. Of fate Kylie Robison reported earlier on Thursday that Irwin’s Slack account appears to have been disabled.
During his months-long tenure, Irwin presided over some turbulent cycles at Twitter, including periods when Twitter came under scrutiny for not doing enough to curb child exploitation. Irwin herself shared inside information on Twitter with Barry Weiss as part of the “Twitter Files” reports and reportedly ordered the banning of Twitter accounts that shared information about Musk’s private jet.
None Irwin neither musk announced his resignation on Twitter. It’s unclear who could fill the role, or if he even has a candidate in mind — perhaps that will be something incoming CEO Linda Iaccarino needs to figure out.
Twitter’s press email responded with emojis, as it has since March.
