SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) – California police say six people have been killed and at least nine others injured in a shooting in downtown Sacramento.
The Sacramento Police Department said the shooting took place early Sunday morning.
A video posted on Twitter shows people running down the street as the sound of rapid fire is heard in the background. The video shows that many ambulances were sent to the scene.
Police provided little details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, but tweeted that “a large police presence will remain and the scene remains active.” Telephone messages seeking comment were left with Sacramento police.
Residents were asked to avoid the area, which is full of restaurants and bars, which leads to the Golden One Center, where the Sacramento Kings play basketball.

Berry Acius, a public activist, said he arrived shortly after the shooting.
“The first thing I saw was as victims. I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood in her body, a girl removing glass from it, a young girl screaming and saying, “They killed my sister.” A mother was running, “Where is my son, has my son been shot?” He said.
“You know, the hustle and bustle, the trauma. These are just a lot of things that, you know, you don’t want to see. “
