Colby Covington against. Jorge Masvidal is here!
This is not a title fight, but a battle is heads the UFC PPV. This is a rarity. Not many fighters can hold a major PPV event without a title. Masvidal has done it before, against Nate Diaz at UFC 244. This time he faces Colby Covington in a match that could be one of the most exciting battles of the year. The marketing material labels him as “former friends, bitter rivals.” Everything looks very professional wrestling, but there is an element of real personal warmth that comes with this battle.
Masvidal and Covington were once training partners and at one time lived together in Miami, Florida. There is a very real feud here that adds a layer of drama to what is essentially a title eliminator between two top UFC welterweight titles.
The UFC does a decent job of explaining the whole situation above if you’re interested. The short version? Colby Covington has become a wrestling pro and said some pretty horrible things about Masvidal and a bunch of his former training partners.
The end result? A UFC event that will likely sell a lot of PPV. Here’s what you need to know …

How to watch UFC 272
The UFC already has a partnership with ESPN. This is great news for the UFC and the expansion of the MMA sport, but bad news for consumer choice. Especially if you are one of the UFC fans who want to watch the UFC in the United States.
In the US, if you want to know how to watch UFC 272, you’ll only find PPV Fighting Night via ESPN Plus. The cost structure is a bit confusing, but here are the options for watching the UFC’s UFC, according to the ESPN website:
- Existing annual ESPN Plus subscribers can order the upcoming UFC card for $ 75
- New ESPN Plus subscribers can purchase a package of one UFC PPV event (streaming in HD) and an annual periodic subscription to ESPN Plus for $ 100. This is a decent deal. The annual subscription for ESPN Plus will be automatically renewed after one year at the price of an annual subscription for ESPN Plus at the time of the automatic renewal.
You can do all of the above on the link below.
