Kia has begun production of the 2023 Sportage at its West Point, Georgia plant, the company said Tuesday. This is the same facility that produces the absolutely great Telluride, Sorento and K5 sedan.
2023 Sportage received several updates for its output model, including an increase in almost all directions. The car is an incredible 7.1 inches longer than the 2022 model, 3.4 of which come from an extended wheelbase.
The new Sportage is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing about 187 horsepower, combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, although there is also a hybrid version. Inside there is a rotating disk to select the gears of the aforementioned transmission and curved screen for tools and infotainment. This is a big advantage over the old model, just in terms of interest.
The first Sportage is a Jungle Green X-Pro model expelled from the line by Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Kia Georgia Vice President of Manufacturing James Watson.
“Sportage is another great product made in Georgia,” said Kemp, “and launching it here at West Point is a moment of pride for our state.”
Look for the Sportage 2023 at US dealers soon.
